Phareware Partners is dedicated to improving the way Computer systems are built. There are far to many manual steps in the process of designing and building a complex computer system. Tools are built around "stove-piped" disciplines rather than as an integrated complex. When tools are integrated, they assume an unrealistic "waterfall" life-cycle. Information feeds to the next process step, but not back to previous artifacts. So the early functional and design modeling (which is most powerful for communication) is generally out of date and inaccurate.

Phareware Partners is building a tool-set to resolve these issues. We will start with tools that support open, accessible modeling standards. This will include IDEF1X (IEEE Std 1320.2-1998)for data modeling and IDEF0 (IEEE Std 1320.1-1998) for functional modeling. These will be built on an extensible data repository that encourages the cross referencing of related model elements. We will add an API such that both the repository and tools can be extended either by Phareware Partners or by others. Our goal is to provide methodological plug-ins that remove the barriers between the various system disciplines and at the same time facilitate the simultaneous maintenance of the entire system model suite.

As we develop tools, we plan to make them available as Open Source products under a license like GPL version 3.
